Youth Activities

The Derry Garden Club is proposing the creation of a Garden Club at the  CHILDREN'S Museum, located at 6 West Broadway in downtown, Derry. The museum is interested in bringing activities outdoors to add interest and spark the imagination of the children involved with their current indoor programs. Children are curious by nature, so this endeavor should prove to be both stimulating and  FUN for the garden club members and youth alike! We are excited about the many possibilities and the wonderful opportunity to help make Derry a better town by offering EDUCATION,  GUIDANCE,  YOUTH  INVOLVEMENT,  CIVIC BEAUTIFICATION, as well as promoting a Healthy Environment !

The details and plantings are not fined tuned at this time, though the wheels have begun to turn. This project will be an ongoing, evolving endeavor, hopefully for many years, inspiring all involved.

Possibilities are unlimited as plantings and garden design are still in the egg stage.

Maybe , a garden incorporating plants with common names named after INSECTS,  ANIMALS and  BIRDS. How exciting would that be !!

Being a museum, possibly incorporating heirloom vegetables and flowers that have a sweet, spicy aroma, enticing garden helpers, such as BIRDS,   BEES and  BUTTERFLIES !

A small  WATER FEATURE  could bring the sounds of nature as well as the allure of water to all.

As we said, the possibilities are unlimited. Details will follow as we collaborate to make this a successful and inspirational dream. With a little LOVE, lots of WORK  and VERY  SPECIAL  PEOPLE, we can reward children,  DERRY and  GARDEN  CLUB  members!
